Learn to Dive with a PADI Instructor
Step 1 - Choice:
The first step to take is to choose a reputable, widely recognised SCUBA diving system. We chose PADI primarily because of their 30 year international reputation and experience in over 95 countries. We believe it is very important to gain internationally accepted certification. The PADI Open Water Course provides you with certification to dive to depths of up to 18 metres. By choosing to learn at a PADI 5 STAR facility you can be assured of the highest quality teaching.
At Mindarie Dive we believe that your first two ocean dives should be conducted from the shore. This ensures that students can experience the world of SCUBA from the safety of the beach not having to jump off a boat into 10m the first time they are to do an open water dive. For those that experience motion sickness this is perfect way to complete your course, but more importantly it allows you the student plenty of time to become familiar with the equipment and to take all the time needed to achieve the skills required without being rushed (unlike if you were on a boat due to the turn around time!) Because we allow you plenty of time everyone feels far more comfortable, they enjoy the course more and also become a SAFER diver! Not all dive stores allow for this option.
Step 2 - Medical :
The second step is to undertake a SCUBA diving medical examination. This is a relatively simple procedure and may be undertaken by your own doctor or one specialising in diving medicals. As a guide, fees may range between $75 and $139 and it pays to check first. You must be over 12 years of age and under 100. We provide the Medical Form free of charge. To commence the course you only need supply the completed medical form, together with 2 passport sized photos for your personalised certification card.
Step 3 - Availability :
Next, carefully choose a date that suits you best to do the course and check with us to see if vacancies are available. A $100 deposit is payable upon enrolling, with the remainder of the balance payable at least 2 weeks before the commencement of the course. At this time you then receive all reading and learning materials.
Step 4 - Equipment :
All SCUBA equipment is provided FREE of charge and you only need to bring your towel, mask, fins and snorkel OR you may hire mask, fins and snorkel from us for an extra $30 per course.
Step 5 - The Course :
Our qualified PADI instructor will take you through the theory and teach you important underwater skills.
Lectures with audio/visual aids in our modern
training room with the option to borrow our DVD
and self-study at home with your manual included.
Comprehensive pool instruction and dives
to familiarise yourself with all equipment…
and at least 4 ocean dives with an instructor.
Ocean dives are normally completed on
Saturday and Sunday.
We also provide CUSTOM COURSES for GROUP BOOKINGS.
We provide all classroom DVD’s, learning material etc,
wetsuits, scuba equipment, etc.
All SCUBA equipment required for the course is included free.
